I was thinking that Dash-in Dungeon looked like a good starter game for kids, both rpg and with other board game components. I was wondering if anyone here had played it before and could give me some input?

I can attest that kids - especially boys - have a heap of fun playing Dash-in-Dungeons. I have two young boys and have used DiD to introduce them to roleplaying. My boys (5 and 7) picked it up very quickly and now can't wait to play again and again. The basic set comes with enough missions to really get them into it, then I add rooms and difficulty to keep the missions fresh until the expansion pack gets released.

Enjoy. I hope the family gets some good play out of the game. Some tips for you and the kids - you can choose to use the draw from the deck method all the time as in the rules or normal card game - or for some things, e.g. battle sequence, the "pick from my hand" like some other card games kids are used to. It's not in the rules but I find the boys enjoy that kind of choice versus chance option. It doesn't change the game play but adds flavour for the kids. If you GM the game, I found my boys are very goal oriented (don't care much about searching) but they still have fun and we get through the game quickly so they don't get bored. Keep drinks and food away from the cards, their too nice to trash with sticky fingers, and place any cards you won't need for the adventure you're playing back in the box, it saves packing up time and space.
