Hey Ladies and Gents,
I'm trying to get the word out to every Toronto gamer possible about a new show in the Toronto Fringe Festival! It opens tonight and is running 11 evenings until July 12th and it's based completely around role playing games. The show's write up is as follows:
"Nowadays there are thousands of ways to find your 'one true love'. Internet dating sites, speed dating, phone lines, friends, the good old bar scene. People connect across the world in ways only dreamt of a few years ago, especially online in MMORPGs like WoW or chatting sites. However, we are all still human, and often love comes when you're not looking. If someone's soulmate is found and it's not the right time, what do we do? Can our fantasies, technology, divorce rate, modern conveniences save us?
Meet Nick and Dana. Two LARPers with a turbulent history. Together in the club where they first met, they stage a retelling of their past to learn the truth of their affair in-game and out-of-character. From the team that brought the hit Shadow Court to the 2005 Fringe, comes a romantic drama about the ins and outs of love."
Out of Character runs nightly from Wednesday-Sunday July 1st to July 12th (dark on Tuesday, July 7th) at 8 pm in The Cats Eye, 150 Charles Street West (basement of the Wymilwood building just east of Avenue and Charles). (July 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,12! 11 chances to see the show! All at 8 pm)
Written by Stephen Near and Directed by Ericka Skirpan. Featuring: Adrianna Prosser and Leeman Kessler, with Kat Leonard, Nick May, Jessica Moss, Phil Rickaby, Kevin Robinson, and Scott Sykes."
While it's not traditional theatre, it we're hoping to appeal to every gamer in Toronto to come out and support other gamers doing art, and have an enjoyable evening at the theatre, meanwhile! I hope to see you all there!
