These are the tech specs on my world that friends and i play. I promissed Starjam i would post about it and this first one is the nature of my world and the background all my players are given about nature when we start a round. All players are free to take part or all of my idea and use it as is or add thier own twists and make it thier world, just please give me credit where due.

1 year is 13 months of 28 days for a total of 364 days a year.
my planet has one yellow sun and two moons first moon is white and larger has a cycle of 28 days. Second is a blue moon has a 72.8 day cycle and is smaller. the solar system my world is in is near a blackhole. Not close enough to risk the solar system itself but does cause meteor showers every 5 months that last for one day. I will go in to detail about meteors more later.

My planet starts with 4 continents 2 of which are discovered and two the players don't know about yet. The top and bottom 1/4 of my planet is snow covered but gets no colder then 10 below F. At the hottest at the equator it may reach 120 F. Equatorial deserts on the continents.
the make up of the planet is
55% oceans/water
15% mountains
5% Swamp
5% jumgle
10% plains
10% forests

There are only a total of 4 alternate Planes of existance in my world.
astral= ghosts are here as well as a few odd elementals
Celestial = angels and good aligned outsiders
Infernal= demons and evil aligned outsiders
etherial= this is the plane used for teleports and extra dimentional storage and travel. Empty of alternate life and more on line with bubble wrap what you put there can not be effected by others and you can't affect thier travels or storage there.

each continent has half a dozen city state like governments, all are openly peaceful but do have political games with each other and different opinions on governance as well as trade goods and use of meteors(again meteors will be discussed soon) City states are based on dominant race in that area and all are governed based on thier racial nature.

I have decided in my game to make more races availible to players. And instead of basing the natures of the races on good or evil. I consider them either Civilized or uncivilized. My Civilized races are Dwarf, human, Elf, Gnome, and Halflings the normal D and D list. For uncivilized races: Kobolts, goblins, gnolls, ogre, and orcs. there are no race wars going on at this time but small groups and raiding parties from one side or another do happen from time to time. Conflicts tend to be more on tradegoods and resource rights, and thieves/raiders, and land rights, discovered ruins/treasure.

and now on to the meteors, the meteors drop about every five months give or take 4 days on either side. They always come out of the sky on the west traveling east. Towns are built near cliffs on the west side to shield them from falling meteors. Some towns by magically gifted peoples will use magnafied wall of force spells around them to deflect meteors with a 5 percent chance that the meteors will pass through the wall of force. The effects of meteors is pure chaos, that is what the meteors are...chaos. The size of meteors range from baseball size to wagon wheels. the meteors can be used to power spells so they can be used by the non-magically inclined. bigger the meteor the bigger the spell they can power. But the meteors are pure chaos energy, with out a mage or cleric to use protection and shaping spells the effects of meteors are chaotic. If a small meteor hits a tree there is a good chance of it becoming a Treant. A large one landing in a grove of trees can make sprites and other woodland elementals. If a small meteor lands in water you could get a water elemental or giant fish. if a large one lands in water you may get a worldpool. If a small one lands in a grave yard you can a powerful undead, if a large one lands you may have the entire grave yard rise as undead of various level. And these are just small examples and simple idea's. In my world if a Meteor passes a wall of force protecting a town or city there is a chance it rips a hole in the planes and allows a demon or angel to pass through the hole.

Meteors make for easy job creation for adventures, they could be hired to defeat a meteor creation, or capture a meteor or destroy a meteor. Or provide safe passage through the time period of meteor fall for a merchant or noble and to protect them from possible meteor creations. or go to old ruins not knowing what effects meteors have had if they have fallen there. They may try to find special meteors to have magic items crafted from them. Every race has a different way of dealing publicly with the meteors. Some want them destroyed on the whole planet, some want them collected and hidden away from the general people for the peoples "safety". Others want them used to make magic items. Others see them as godly powers sent to earth to be revered and collected and the risks of uncontrolled meteors being the tests of thier gods. they leave alot for world creation.

In future posts i will list the additions to those races and attitutes in my world. opinions are again welcome and let me know of your ideas on it
