I am just getting back into D&D with my son, after playing what I guess was 1st edition back in the early eighties. We were on the Wizards of the Coast website and downloaded The Character Generator demo. It seemed like a good high tech way of generating characters, but we could not find were to get the full version. Any ideas? or is it out of production?
Thanks for any help

the back. It doesn`t let you do some of the more DM type stuff but it`s not bad for character generation. A friend of mine just got the e-tools or whatever they`re calling it now and said it`s a big disappointment. Granted we`ve been playing for a long time and maybe like the old ways best but it sounds as if it was a half-finished product with lots of missed potential.

of the book. the full version, e-tools, is available as a purchase via the WOTC shop (now someone else but there are links).
I use e-tools and find it better than the demo version mainly due to the ability to print out monster stat blocks that replace the monster stat blocks in my old 1e and 2e dungeons.
It also ensures your chatracters don`t miss out on a feat or skill points.
Many people wanted much more in it such as map making etc but I like the product as it is.

There are also a few good free character generators available. PCGen and Redblade are the most popular ones. PCGen is very elaborate and supports many systems and characters based different sourcebooks. Also has different output styles (the printable character sheets). Redblade has a nice user interface and makes it easy to add new custom classes.
You can find links to these generators on my site at http://www.cerbain.net/modules.php?op=modload& name=Web_Links&file=ind... viewlink&cid=4
Or choose downloads in the main menu http://www.cerbain.net/
